McGillicafey's Pub and Eatery is a popular dining location located in Hastings, Ontario. (Highway 45, 30 minutes from Cobourg and Peterborough) Although located in a small community, McGillicafey's Pub and Eatery offers a 'big city' atmosphere with contemporary decor, unique food style, craft beer & signature cocktails, live music and more. We pride ourselves with offering award-winning service & food thanks to the amazing management and staff that are employed with us. Both our service and culinary teams have received top marks on all popular restaurant rating sites and we continue to raise the bar as we head towards our sixth year in business.

As we continue to grow and expand we are looking for new culinary members to join our team. We are looking for individuals who can take initiative, work well with others, take direction from management and who are punctual and reliable. These individuals must be available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Line Cook Job Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies

  • Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces

  • Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards

  • Maintain cleanliness and complies with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage

  • Cleans and sanitizes cooking surfaces during their shift and setup their stations to ensure the next shift is 'rush-ready'

  • Performs product inventory checks for restock in their stations and completes food storage and sanitation logs

Line Cook Qualifications/Skills:

  • Basic written and verbal communication skills

  • Organizational skills

  • Accuracy and speed in executing tasks

  • Ability to work as a team member

  • Follows directions, recipes and instructions

Education and Experience Requirements:​

  • Experience as a line cook or restaurant cook an asset but not necessary as we are willing to train

  • Certificate in Culinary Arts an asset

  • Experience with various cooking methods and procedures

  • Familiar with industry best practices
