To qualify for a position as a fry cook, candidates need to meet the following requirements:

Prior experience in a restaurant kitchen food service role is highly desirable.

Understanding of kitchen operations and equipment, including various restaurant equipment.

Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
-
Knowledge of basic math and reading skills.
-
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including mostly evenings and weekends, and statutory holidays.

Ability to stand for long periods of time.
-
Basic knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation requirements.
-
Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy pots and pans.
-
Safe food handler's certification is a requirement.
Job tasks and responsibilities of a cold plate & pizza cook includes but are not limited to:
-
Preparing and cooking a variety of salads, pizzas, and desserts.
-
Operating and maintaining pizza oven and cold station.
-
Preparing and measuring ingredients.
-
Ensuring that the kitchen and station is well-stocked with ingredients and supplies.
-
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, including cleaning equipment, dishes and general work area.

Working in a tidy and organized manner.
-
Adhering to food safety regulations and ensuring that all food is cooked and stored properly.

Assisting other kitchen staff members as needed.
-
Following recipes and instructions with precision to ensure consistent quality of food.

Helping with food preparation and presentation.
-
Assisting with inventory management and team communication.
Duties and responsibilities may vary depending on the needs and requirements during the shift worked.
In addition to the qualifications listed above, successful cold plate & pizza cooks possess various skills that help them excel in their roles. These include:

Cooking skills: must have a good understanding of cooking techniques and be able to prepare a variety of foods to a high standard.

Attention to detail: need to be able to follow recipes and instructions accurately, and to pay attention to detail when preparing and cooking food.

Time management skills: must be able to manage their time effectively, juggling multiple tasks and priorities.

Physical stamina: must be able to stand for long periods of time, and to lift and move heavy pots and pans.

Strong organizational skills: should be able to keep their work area clean and organized and maintain inventory and supplies.

Knowledge of food safety regulations: must be aware of food safety regulations and sanitation requirements and should be able to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment.
